Ladakh First Trip Guide: Leh, Nubra and Pangong
Ladakh is unforgettable, but it should never be rushed. Acclimatization and sensible route planning matter more than a long checklist.
Keep the first day light
Leh sits at high altitude, so the arrival day should be for rest, hydration and gentle walks only. This improves the rest of the trip.
Nubra and Pangong need realistic drives
Distances can feel longer because of mountain roads and photo stops. A well-paced plan avoids late arrivals and keeps scenic drives enjoyable.
Travel prepared
Carry warm layers, sun protection, basic medication after consulting your doctor and valid identification. Network and facilities can be limited outside Leh.
Best time to visit
May to September is the main travel season for Ladakh, with better road access and clearer sightseeing possibilities. Early and late season travel can be beautiful but needs more flexibility around weather and road conditions.
Who should be careful
Ladakh may not suit travellers who cannot handle altitude, long drives or basic facilities in remote areas. Families with very young children and senior travellers should discuss comfort, health and routing before finalizing.
