What to expect

Madame Tussauds opens in Dubai in late 2021. Covering 21,528 square feet and divided into two floors, it is the first Madame Tussauds ever to be launched in the Gulf countries. Madame Tussauds first opened in London in 1835 and is famous for its lifelike wax figures of famous people. At Madame Tussauds Dubai, there will be replicas of 60 global celebrities, including Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif, Kylie Jenner, Cara Delevingne, Will Smith and Cristiano Ronaldo. There are even some national figures, and there will be 16 wax figures from the Middle East, including Arab singers Nancy Ajram and Maya Diab. Each wax figure at Madame Tussauds is made by professional sculptors using the same artistic techniques as founder Marie Tussaud. It takes an artist 12 weeks to create a statue. They have to record around 500 precise body measurements and even insert real hair strand by strand to create the model, which can cost up to Dh700,000 for one model, depending on the detail required.
