What to expect
Are you looking for a relaxed way to experience Giethoorn without the afternoon crowds? This combined package offers the perfect afternoon and evening out. By starting your self drive boat tour at 4:00 PM, you bypass the busiest hours on the canals. You’ll enjoy a relaxing 2-hour cruise through the village and the nearby lake, followed by a hearty, freshly prepared 3-course dinner at our cozy restaurant right by the water. It’s a complete, hassle-free experience where everything is taken care of.
Part 1: A Relaxing 2-Hour Boat trip (self drive) 16:00 - 18:00)
Your afternoon begins at our restaurant, located directly on the historic canals of Giethoorn. We recommend arriving around 15:45 (3:45 PM) so you can meet our team and get settled. From our private dock right outside the restaurant, you’ll step straight onto a comfortable, open electric boat.
At 16:00, you leave the dock. The timing of this tour is ideal: most day-trippers and large tour buses start leaving the village around this time, meaning you get to experience the waterways with much more breathing room and peace.
Because this is a generous 2-hour cruise, you don’t just stay in the village center. You will also sail out onto the expansive Bovenwijde lake and along the edges of the Weerribben-Wieden National Park. Here, you can enjoy the open nature, look out for local birds, and watch the late afternoon sun create a beautiful, relaxed atmosphere over the water.
Part 2: A Good Meal by the Water (18:00 - 20:00)
At 18:00 (6:00 PM), the boat returns directly to the restaurant's dock. You won't have to look around for a place to eat or wait in line for a table; your spot is already reserved. You can sit down either on our waterside terrace if the weather is nice, or inside our warm and welcoming dining room.
Once you’re comfortable, our team will serve a freshly prepared 3-course dinner. We believe in good, honest food made with seasonal ingredients. The menu offers a mix of classic Dutch hospitality and international favorites, ensuring there is something delicious for everyone.
The Starter: A choice of light, tasty appetizers to kick off your dinner after being out on the water.
The Main Course: A selection of flavorful meat, fresh fish, or vegetarian dishes, served with matching side dishes.
The Dessert: A classic, delicious dessert made by our kitchen team to finish your evening, which goes great with a cup of coffee or tea.
