What to expect
Florejacs Castle preserves the old square watchtower along with the rest of the fortification, located in a dominant area, from which there is a fascinating view of the lands and the villages. The entrance doors reveal part of the beauty that we can see inside the enclosure and its good state of preservation: the cardinal's room, the Sanllehi room – along with all the belongings left as an inheritance – the long hall, the weapons room, and of course the cellar, the prison, the secret passage...
The first documented records of the castle date back to the 11th century. The medieval castle was built by Arnau Mir de Tost on the site of an older fortress. The castle has always been in the hands of the same family, and its current owners are the Jaumandreu-Balanzó family.
The castle consists of a 16th-century stately mansion attached to the old town wall and featuring a beautiful medieval tower. Its interior, with its ornamentation and furniture, is a true three-level museum: the ground floor, where we find the stables, the cellar, the dungeon and other rooms; the Noble Floor, with a living room, a beautiful bedroom and the dining room; and the upper floor, with various rooms.
For curious visitors: the collection room, with an interesting array of objects from different eras; admission to the secret passage; and the weapons collection.
