The Aljaferia Palace is the northernmost Muslim palace in Europe. Also called the "Palace of Joy", it was the residence of Aragonese kings, the seat of the Inquisition, and a military barracks.

What to expect
The Aljaferia Palace was built by order of Al-Muqtadir, king of the Taifa of Zaragoza, in the 11th century as a place for recreation and enjoyment. Still the northernmost Muslim palace in Europe today, this palace complex was also called the Palace of Joy because of its beauty and decoration. Renovated and expanded by the Christian kings of Aragon, it became the seat of the court of the Kingdom of Aragon and of the Catholic Monarchs, who enlarged its dimensions while maintaining the slender silhouette of bygone times.
Terms & conditions
The meeting point is at the entrance to the Aljaferia Palace grounds, on Calle de los Diputados.
The tour guide will be at the entrance next to the ticket desk with an ID, a t-shirt, and a white umbrella with the Paseicos ZaragozaTours logo, a red Z.
Punctuality is essential, as once inside the grounds, it will not be possible to take calls or let in visitors who have arrived late
