What to expect
The Subequana Valley is one of the most picturesque areas in the Abruzzo hinterland, a landscape of medieval villages, towers, and castles nestled among mountains and unspoiled nature: perfect for photography, nature, and history lovers.
It is an inland valley in Abruzzo with an average altitude of 600 m a.s.l. and extends between Mount Sirente and the Aterno River, within the Sirente-Velino Regional Natural Park. Formerly called Ruris Super Aequor, it was the territory of the Peligni and includes the towns of Castel di Ieri, Castelvecchio Subequo, Gagliano Aterno, Goriano Sicoli, Molina Aterno and Secinaro, all in the province of L'Aquila.
