What to expect
The tour offers an authentic experience in the heart of the ancient tradition of Palermo's Opera dei Pupi, led by Franco Cuticchio, a puppeteer and son of art belonging to one of the most famous and recognized families in the world. The visit takes place in his historic theater, located in the UNESCO area of San Giovanni degli Eremiti, in the historic center of Palermo.
The experience kicks off with a real puppet show, where you can immerse yourself in the epic deeds of the paladins, including duels, magic, hand-painted sets, and the puppeteer's mastery in giving voice and life to the characters.
Next, the tour continues in the artisan workshop, the heart of tradition, where Franco Cuticchio shows how puppets are born: from woodworking to the creation of armor, to the painting of details. The master will also explain the maneuvering techniques and how the show works, revealing secrets handed down through generations.
Finally, the experience is completed with a visit to the Puppet Museum, which preserves a precious collection of historical puppets, original sets, costumes, swords, horses, and unique works that tell centuries of family history and tradition.
A rich and engaging journey that combines entertainment, craftsmanship, culture, and Sicilian intangible heritage, offering an unforgettable experience into the world of Opera dei Pupi.
