The Royal Palace is also known as the `Palacio de Oriente´, due to its proximity to the `Plaza de Oriente´, which is located on the east (Oriental) side of the palace. Once you meet your guide and avoid the long lines in the golden corridors of the palace, you will see the grandiose official rooms, each room with its own elegant personality, and corners that will surprise you. The Royal Palace of Madrid used to be the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family. Nowadays, the palace is also used for exclusive receptions, ceremonies, and official events.
