What to expect
Medina-Ashahara Palace is a typical Caliphate period art complex, founded in 936. The palace was built by the Arabian caliph Abdul Rahman and named after his concubine Asahara. It was planned to be the new capital of the kingdom, but it only existed for a century before it was destroyed by the Berbers. The Ashahara Palace is basically rectangular in shape, and the entire palace is built according to the mountain, with distinct layers. Each floor is divided by stone walls, dividing the palace into three parts. The higher part is the main body of the palace, with nurseries and gardens in the middle, and a large mosque and housing on the lower level. In addition, the palace also preserves columns and paintings of various styles. In the restored hall, you can vaguely imagine the grand occasion of that year. Abdul Rahman III was a great cultural promoter and an outstanding statesman. Under his rule, Spain became a very prosperous country in the Western world at that time. Only Baghdad and Byzantium could compete with Cordova on a par.
