What to expect
The Cathedral of Girona, located in the heart of the old town, was built in the 11th century in Romanesque style, then changed to Gothic style in the 13th century. Completed in the 18th century, the cathedral is one of the world's most famous Gothic cathedrals. The cathedral stands impressively on nearly 100 steps and is famous for its nave. The cloister of the church is neo-Romanesque, the front facade and main hall are Catalan Baroque, and the side bell tower was built in the 18th century. The very wide Gothic nave is also a symbol of the ideal space of Catalan Gothic architecture. The Church Treasure Museum preserves the complete brocade painting "Genesis" embroidered in Europe between the 11th and 12th centuries, which is very spectacular. The Cathedral is also the location for the filming of the Cathedral of King's Landing in "Game of Thrones".
