What to expect

The theater was designed and built by E.WamsleyLewis in 1930. The interior auditorium inherited the ArtDeco style from France (Art Nouveau), with a lot of marine themes; the dome used a luxurious shell-shaped pattern. However, after opening in 1930, the theater has been operating in the West End tepidly, until a musical called Starlight Express hit in 1984, and the theater began to rank among the top theaters in the West End. Like other theaters in the West End, the nearly 100-year-old Apollo Victoria Theater is listed as a Grade II protected building.

The signature play musical Wicked (Wicked Wicked) is a prequel to The Wizard of Oz, telling the birth of the Green Goblin. Long before Dorothy was blown to Oz, two little girls met here. One of them has emerald green skin, is intelligent and enthusiastic, but is often misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and popular. Somehow, these two unlikely friends turn into the evil witch of the west and the good witch of the north, respectively. The plot is based on Gregory Maguire's novel of the same name, which is based on Liman Frank Baum's The Wizard of Oz.
