What to expect
The Ludwig Museum, located behind Cologne Cathedral, was officially established in 1976 and houses a large collection of international modern and contemporary art. 350 of these works of modern art were generously donated by the Ludwigs. In this large collection of pop art you can see Roy Lichtenstein's "Maybe" or Andy Warhol's outside the US "Brillo Boxes" and other pop art icons, this is also the third largest museum in the world with a large collection of Picasso's works - prints, sculptures, paintings are all available, except for a large number of Russian avant-garde exhibitions. In addition to the works, there are many important works of surrealism, expressionism and German paintings in the 1920s.
