What to expect

Tombs of French emperors on the Ring Road. A masterpiece of early Gothic art, it was a powerful abbey church and an extremely important pilgrimage site in the Middle Ages. Since successive French kings were buried here, the fate of the Basilica of Saint-Denis was closely linked to the imperial power. There are more than 70 beautifully carved mausoleums here today, and the tomb owners include Dagobert, François I, Queen Caterina de Medici and Louis XVI.

• Free groups need to present their admission voucher at the attraction ticket office to exchange for a free ticket before entering.
