What to expect
The Bullring of Seville, also known as the Maes Dolanza Bullring, was built in the 18th century and took 120 years to complete. It is one of the most representative bullrings in Spain. As the birthplace of bullfighting, Seville also sees the bullring as a heritage of the city's own culture. The more striking buildings in the bullring are the magnificent semi-circular arcade and the Prince's Gate (Puerta del Principe). Opposite the bullring there is a sculpture called "Carmen, a cigar factory worker", which is based on the classic image in the novel "Carmen". . Mérimé described in the work that Carmen was killed by Jose here. When you come to Seville, watching a bullfight show is an essential itinerary. The bullring currently has a capacity of 12,500 spectators and is the dream place of all Seville bullfighters.
