What to expect
Located west of the Sydney Opera House, the Sydney Harbour Bridge is Sydney's iconic bridge and landmark, dominating most Sydney postcards, alongside the Opera House. It connects the CBD with the North Shore. 1. Overview of the Harbour Bridge: Built in 1932, the Harbour Bridge is 1,149 meters long, 139 meters wide, and 503 meters high. BridgeClimb has become a popular Sydney tourist attraction, making it the first bridge in the world to allow visitors to climb to the top of the arch. 2. Multiple Ways to Experience the Sydney Harbour Bridge: There are many ways to experience it, including driving under it, climbing it, taking a train across it, and sailing under it. However, the best way to fully experience the bridge is on foot. Stairs are available on both sides of the bridge. A pedestrian walkway is located on the east side, and a bicycle path is located on the west side. You can ascend the southeast tower to access the observation deck, or climb the bridge itself to experience the bridge's massive arches. 3. Climbing the Harbour Bridge: Climbing the Harbour Bridge is a classic Sydney experience. Over three million people, dressed in their signature blue attire, have climbed the bridge to date. Whether climbing this iron structure at dawn, daytime, dusk, or night, you can enjoy panoramic views of Sydney's cityscape. The experience and sense of accomplishment of climbing a landmark are unparalleled and highly recommended. 4. Australia Day Fireworks: Every New Year's Day (January 1st) and Australia Day (January 26th), the Harbour Bridge hosts multiple fireworks displays, a spectacular spectacle enjoyed by nearly all Sydneysiders. The Sydney Opera House offers panoramic views of the Harbour Bridge, while Mrs. Macquarie's Chair offers a photo opportunity of the Opera House and the Harbour Bridge.
