What to expect
Located in the Lujiazui Financial District, close to the Oriental Pearl Tower, the Shanghai Ocean Aquarium is one of the largest man-made seawater aquariums in the world. The Shanghai Ocean Aquarium has a unique appearance, with the main and auxiliary buildings in the shape of large and small pyramids.
The Shanghai Aquarium is divided into nine exhibition areas with the theme of "Experience the Five Continents through the Water World", displaying more than 450 species and more than 12,000 rare aquatic creatures from five continents and four oceans.
Among them: 10 species are national protected species, and 10 species are included in the international protection list as endangered or critically endangered species.
At the same time, the aquarium has successfully bred 37 species of organisms, 6 of which were the first successful breeding in the country.
The ocean classroom on the third floor of Shanghai Ocean Aquarium is equipped with a touch pool, symbiotic system display and reading interactive area.
