What to expect
Toji Temple is a World Heritage Site. Toji Temple, also known as Jiaowang Huguo Temple, was built as early as the establishment of Heianjing. In 806 AD, the Japanese monk Kukai returned to the country from the Qinglong Temple in Chang'an, and preached the Dharma in the Toji Temple, which is the origin of the Japanese mantra. In 823 AD, Toji Temple became the dojo of Shingon Esotericism.
