What to expect

Ishigaki Island is about 420 kilometers southwest of Naha, the main island of Okinawa, and is the main island of the Yaeyama Islands. It is said that in order to avoid typhoons, the houses on the island are surrounded by stone walls, hence the name "Ishigaki". Ishigaki Island has a circumference of about 90 kilometers and is characterized by many mountains. Ishigaki Island has many marine attractions. The seabed of Baibao is clear and transparent, covered with colorful corals, attracting the attention of the whole world. In this lush virgin jungle with tropical plants such as mangroves, there is the island's precious ecosystem. Ishigaki Island is vast and sparsely populated, and public transportation after leaving the urban area is relatively inconvenient. If you want to travel around the headland spots on Ishigaki Island, it is recommended to rent a car or sign up for a local tour group.
