What to expect
Futarasan Shrine is located in Nikko, Tochigi Prefecture. With a history of over 1,250 years, it's part of the "Shrines and Temples of Nikko" UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Futarasan Shrine is an ancient shrine said to have been founded by the holy monk Shodo Shonin in 767.
The shrine is divided into three areas, each with its own unique atmosphere.
In front of the shrine stand two cedar trees, each carved with a couple and a parent-child pair, believed to safeguard marital happiness and the bond between parents and children. Additionally, to the left of the shrine is a spring called "Nitara Spring," with crystal-clear water that locals believe brings peace when drunk.
