What to expect

Hokkaido Development Village is like an outdoor museum. It is an experience park with the theme of recreating the life, culture, industry and economic history of the pioneering era. It was built in 1983 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Hokkaido. The entire pioneering village is roughly divided into urban groups, fishing villages, rural groups and mountain villages. More than 50 precious buildings such as residences, schools, factories and businesses have been relocated and restored, and walking around is like returning to Hokkaido a hundred years ago. In addition to visiting the interior of the building, you can experience the way of life of Hokkaido people a hundred years ago, and you can also experience the transportation at that time, such as the carriage railway, horse sleigh, etc. It is very interesting.

• Free admission for junior high school students (aged 15 and under) and seniors aged 65+
• Individuals with a physical or mental disability handbook (physical, rehabilitative, or mental) are eligible for free admission (one caregiver accompanying the handbook holder can also enter for free).
• High school students (aged 16 or above) can enjoy free admission if they meet any of the following conditions.
• Public transportation: Get off at JR "Shin-Sapporo Station" or the Tozai Subway Line "Shin-Sapporo Station," then transfer to the JR Hokkaido bus bound for "Kaitaku-no-Mura" at bus stop No. 10
