What to expect
Fugaku Wind Cave is located next to Aokigahara Forest, formed by volcanic lava eruptions. Surrounded by lush trees, it exudes an air of mystery. Approaching the cave entrance, even on scorching summer days, you'll suddenly feel cool breezes—since the temperature inside Fugaku Wind Cave remains around 3°C in summer, like a refrigerator. This makes it especially popular among visitors during the summer season.
Fugaku Wind Cave is 201m long with a maximum height of 8.7m. Inside, you'll see uniquely shaped lava formations and icicles that remain frozen even in summer. Due to these preservation conditions, the cave also stores numerous plant seeds. The full walkthrough takes about 15 min – we recommend bringing warm clothing to avoid catching a chill.
