What to expect

Marshall Zen Garden was built in the 1920s and was once used by the Japanese military as a comfort station for kamikaze pilots before their missions. In the 1960s, Zhang Xueliang, the Young Marshal of Northeast China, and his wife Zhao Yidi were confined here. Nestled among the trees at the foot of Beitou Mountain, Marshall Zen Garden offers a distant view of Guanyin Mountain, with the Guandu Plain seemingly within reach. Visitors can enjoy gourmet food, soak in hot springs, and savor fine tea. You'll find that while Taipei's bustling city life isn't far away, the tranquility and beauty you can embrace here feel wonderfully close.

Nestled among the trees on Beitou's mountainside, the wooden-walled tile-roofed houses stand quietly, where the air carries a faint hint of melancholy. Yet when you gaze at Guanyin Mountain from beneath the century-old wooden eaves, a sudden sense of exhilaration and joy washes over you.
