What to expect
Dongyanshan National Forest Recreation Area is located in Fuxing District, Taoyuan City, about an hour's drive from Daxi. There are large tracts of Cryptomeria japonica forests here, the air is fresh, and the trails are flat and easy to walk, which is suitable for walking and forest bathing. You can climb to the top of the mountain along the main trail, and you can see the distant views of Taoyuan and Taipei when the weather is good. The park has a good ecological environment, and mountain birds and small mammals are common. If you are lucky, you may have the opportunity to see white-faced flying squirrels. There are different scenery in different seasons, with cherry blossoms in spring, red leaves in autumn, and frogs croaking in the summer nights. There is also a fossil area in the park, which displays trace fossils left tens of millions of years ago. It is suitable for friends who like nature and geology to arrange a one-day light trip.
