Meet your English-speaking guide and driver and begin a comprehensive tour of Kuala Lumpur streets. Enjoy the freedom in choosing where you want to go and what you want to experience. Decide to visit to Brickfields, a neighborhood outside central Kuala Lumpur that boasts a high concentration of Indian businesses—shop for sarees and dresses and taste local spices.
Next, travel to the Central Market, and learn about its history which dates back to 1888. Examine the Art Deco-style building, completed in 1937 and designated as a Heritage Site by the Malaysian Heritage Society. The arrangement of the stalls echoes the traditional markets that have existed in Kuala Lumpur since the 1800s, including the Kampong-style houses and the multi-ethnic harmony that can be seen across the city.
Make a stop in Chinatown. Peruse the many restaurants and food stalls, keeping a lookout for a wide variation of distinctive and flavorful dishes.
