What to expect
Experience the grandeur of Acatenango Volcano and Fuego Volcano on this 2-day tour.
Start with pickup from your hotel in Antigua Guatemala between 8:00 a.m. and 8:20 a.m., depending on the order of the route, but please be ready from 8:00 a.m. to avoid delays.
We will then leave Antigua and make a stop at our station, where you will receive your meals, jackets, gloves, and hats. Here you can also rent backpacks, flashlights, or hiking shoes, as well as receive additional information about the tour. This stop will take place approximately between 8:45 a.m. and 9:15 a.m.
After that, we will arrive at the village of La Soledad, where you will meet the guides who will accompany you throughout the experience. We will arrive approximately between 10:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. After a brief informational talk from the guide, there will be time to use the bathrooms before starting the hike to base camp. The hike will take approximately 4.5 to 5 hours, with several stops along the way to rest and enjoy the scenery. Around midday, there will be a stop for lunch.
We will arrive at base camp approximately between 4:45 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. The camp has a direct view of Fuego Volcano, where you will be able to constantly enjoy its impressive eruptions. Here, the guide will assign you to your dome so you can leave your belongings and relax. You will also have the option to take an extra hike to Fuego Volcano after arriving at camp, getting approximately 300 meters from the crater, or you may stay at camp relaxing and enjoying the views.
Once the entire group returns to camp, the guide will prepare a bonfire to prepare dinner and enjoy the experience around the fire.
The second day begins at 4:00 a.m., when you will hike to the summit of Acatenango Volcano to enjoy the sunrise from the top. Guests who do not wish to hike to the summit may remain at camp. Afterwards, the guide will prepare breakfast approximately between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. before beginning the descent back to the starting point from the previous day, where the bus will be waiting to take you back to Antigua.
