What to expect
Escape the city and experience the breathtaking beauty of the Scottish Highlands on this unforgettable full-day adventure from Edinburgh to the iconic Glenfinnan Viaduct.
Leaving Edinburgh behind, travel through Scotland’s stunning countryside, passing famous landmarks such as The Kelpies and Stirling Castle before heading deep into the Highlands. Along the way, enjoy a refreshment stop at the Trossachs Woollen Mill, where you will have a chance to encounter Scotland’s beloved Highland cows.
Continue through the spectacular landscapes of Glencoe, one of Scotland’s most famous and dramatic glens. Featured in films including Skyfall, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Glencoe offers incredible photo opportunities and a fascinating history, including the tragic MacDonald clan massacre of 1692.
The journey then follows the shores of Loch Linnhe to Fort William, nestled beneath Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the United Kingdom. You will have free time in Fort William for lunch before continuing west to the world-famous Glenfinnan Viaduct, surrounded by the rugged mountains and tranquil waters of Loch Shiel.
Take a short walk to a scenic viewpoint overlooking the viaduct, admire the Glenfinnan Monument, and soak up the magical Highland scenery. Fans of Harry Potter will recognise the viaduct as the route of the Hogwarts Express. We'll do our best to arrive in time to watch the train cross the viaduct. (Please note: the Jacobite Steam train runs on a seasonal basis during the summer, please check with the train operator for service updates. Train is not guaranteed, and you will not be able to board).
The return journey is equally scenic. Loch Laggan and through the magnificent landscapes of Cairngorms National Park. A final refreshment stop in the charming Victorian town of Pitlochry provides the perfect opportunity to stretch your legs before returning to Edinburgh.
