Your journey begins with a comfortable pickup from your hotel in El Calafate, followed by a drive through the Patagonian landscape toward the western edge of the Magellanic Peninsula.
Once inside the national park, you’ll have ample time — approximately 3 hours — to explore the glacier at your own pace. Walk along a 4-kilometer (2.5-mile) network of elevated boardwalks, designed to offer safe and stunning panoramic views from various levels and vantage points. From the lower balconies to the higher terraces, every turn presents a new angle of the glacier’s immense face and dramatic ice formations.
Take this time to enjoy a packed lunch or grab a bite at one of the park’s restaurants while overlooking the glacier’s towering ice walls. For those looking to get even closer, an optional 1-hour boat ride is available, offering a unique perspective from the water just in front of the glacier’s massive terminus.
