What to expect
The Wieliczka Salt Mine is among Poland’s most cherished cultural landmarks. Each year, it draws over a million visitors from across the globe who come to admire its intricate salt carvings and detailed reliefs.
Recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1978, this extraordinary location has become a must-see for many travellers. Generations of miners left behind a legacy of sculptures and bas-reliefs carved directly from the salt, preserving their craftsmanship for the future.
To enter the mine, visitors must descend about 800 steps, with the first underground level reached after roughly 350. At the end of the tour, an elevator carries guests back up to the surface.
