What to expect
Join us on the Private Volcano Trails self-drive tour and drive our iconic Land Rover Defenders on fun and challenging 4x4 trails with views of the beautiful nature surrounding Reykjavík City.
Our 4x4 guide will meet you at the Volcano Trails office and following a short introduction, you and your companions will be assigned to your cars. Every individual group gets their own private Land Rover Defender to drive.
When everyone is ready in their seats, our guide leads the convoy of cars to the trails which are located just about a 5 minute drive from our starting location. Handheld radios are in each car so that the guide can deliver information as well as the drivers can communicate with the guide and the rest of the group. Feel free to use the radio for a bit of extra fun!
On the trails, you will get to drive with your friends or family in your private Land Rover Defender and test your driving skills in challenging off-road conditions. A stop is made halfway to switch drivers, take pictures and to enjoy the views of the beautiful nature surrounding Reykjavík city.
Our guides select the trails daily depending on trail conditions, allowing for the best possible driving experience on each tour. This tour is ideal in any kind of weather and no heavy overalls or helmets are needed as you will be seated inside the car, sheltered from the weather and splashes of water when we cross the rivers. We do recommend dressing in warm clothes and to bring a hat, gloves and good shoes, especially outside the summer months of June and August.
