What to expect
Embark on a once-in-a-lifetime adventure with a helicopter tour of Iceland's iconic landmarks. The tour begins with a visit to Þingvellir National Park, an important historical site and a Unesco World Heritage Site. The park is home to Iceland's first democratic parliament, the Althingi, established in the year 930 AD. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking aerial views of the site's geological marvels, including the Silfra rift and the Almannagjá fissure.
The tour continues with a visit to the Geysir Geothermal Area, where visitors can witness the power of the earth's geothermal energy with the eruptions of the Great Geysir, boiling water up to 70 meters in the air. Marvel at the rainbow-colored pools of water in the midst of the geothermal landscape. The landing is dependent on weather conditions, but even the aerial views are a magnificent sight.
The helicopter tour then takes visitors to the Landmannalaugar Geothermal Area, a colorful area located in the Highlands of Iceland, with rhyolite mountains and soothing geothermal pools. Although landing is weather-dependent, the area's natural beauty is undeniable, featuring vibrant and contrasting colors including reds, greens and yellows. Hiking enthusiasts can explore the natural beauty by hiking through Laugavegur trail that is home to unique landscape and picturesque views.
Next, visitors to the tour are transported to Þórsmörk, a nature reserve nestled amidst mountains, glaciers, and rivers. The heavily forested area is home to various wildlife, including rabbits, foxes, and bird species. Visitors get an incredible view of the valley and its lush vegetation from the helicopter. The Þórsmörk valley offers an escape to the beauty of Iceland's wilderness and awe-inspiring landscapes.
The helicopter then takes visitors to the Eyjafjallajökull Glacier Volcano, the iconic landmark known for its beauty and eruption in 2010. While weather-dependent, landing at the site is an opportunity to witness Iceland's geological wonders, surrounded by glaciers and ice caps, and to learn more about Iceland's volcanic history. The helicopter tour ends with a visit to Gullfoss Waterfall, cascading down in two stages into a deep canyon, a breathtaking view enjoyable from the air. The tour concludes at the Háifoss Waterfall, dropping 122 meters into a gorge, a hidden gem for nature enthusiasts.
