What to expect
Spend a full day exploring the breathtaking landscapes of South Iceland on horseback. Ride along meadows ideal for trying the smooth tölt gait of the Icelandic horse, through the scenic Gljúfurá river area, and toward the old cemetery by the powerful Ölfusá river.
Enjoy panoramic views of the river delta and, weather permitting, the majestic volcanoes Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull. Ride across soft black lava sand, pass shallow waters to the lush island Lambey, home to diverse birdlife, and continue through farmlands to Mount Ingólfsfjall.
Follow an ancient Viking path near Reykjafjall, where horses and sheep graze in the summer. Conclude your journey with a stunning view over the village of Hveragerði.
