What to expect
Meet your guide at the Geldingadalur Volcano parking lot and hop into a specially modified Super Jeep. Set off on a thrilling off-road adventure through Iceland’s youngest volcanic landscapes.
Stop at a mountaintop with sweeping views over the Geldingadalir lava fields, formed during the dramatic eruption in 2021 — the first in Reykjanes in nearly 800 years.
Next, head to the Sundhnúkagígar lava fields, born from eruptions in 2023 and 2024. The fresh black lava stretching across the landscape tells the story of powerful and recent volcanic activity.
Finally, get up close to the newest lava. Feel the heat still radiating from the ground, marvel at the scale of the flow, and even touch the rugged, newly formed lava — a rare and memorable encounter.

Terms & conditions
When the volcano is active, we head straight to the eruption site, getting as close to the lava as safety allows. When it’s dormant, the tour takes you to three stunning volcanic sites, each offering unique geological features and panoramic views.
Part of the route includes a steep mountain track leading to one of the viewpoints. While the ride is completely safe in our specially modified Super Jeep, those with a strong fear of heights may find this section a bit challenging.
