What to expect
Discover Iceland’s spectacular South Coast on a full-day journey to the breathtaking Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon.
Travel east from Reykjavík through a landscape shaped by fire and ice, passing black sand plains, rugged cliffs, and glacier-capped volcanoes. Along the way, visit two of Iceland’s most iconic waterfalls. Walk behind the curtain of water at Seljalandsfoss for a unique perspective (weather permitting), and feel the power of Skógafoss as its mist rises from a 60-meter drop.
Continue past the vast lava fields and the Skaftafell area in Vatnajökull National Park, home to Europe’s largest glacier. Enjoy views of Öræfajökull, Iceland’s highest peak, towering above the surrounding glaciers.
The highlight of the day is Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon, where massive icebergs break away from Vatnajökull and drift serenely toward the Atlantic Ocean. Spend time walking along the lagoon’s edge, taking in the ever-changing scenery and watching seals swim among the floating ice (if you're lucky). Just across the road, visit the famous Diamond Beach, where glistening ice fragments rest on the black sand shore.
During summer, an optional amphibian boat tour on the lagoon is available for an additional fee (payable on site), offering an up-close view of the floating icebergs.
