Travel in a specially designed 4×4 bus through lava fields, glacier rivers, and breathtaking mountain scenery. Feel like an astronaut for a while, be it from Apollo 11 or Artemis II - they all left their marks here. Your knowledgeable guide will share insights into the area's geology and history along the way. You will have a chance to refill your bottles with fresh Icelandic spring water on the way and breathe in the fresh air of the highlands.
After a scenic drive with stops at interesting sights, you'll have 2.5 hours to explore Askja Lake and enjoy spectacular views. A short hike takes you to the lake, and you can even venture into Víti crater if conditions permit.

Tour starts at 8 am from Lake Mývatn and returns around 7-8 pm
A long but easy is hike required to reach Lake Askja, the hike is 2,5 km long one way. Please note that the weather in the highlands can be unpredictable and there may be snow even in the summer. The hike becomes more difficult with snow on the ground. Please bring suitable shoes and warm clothing.
Since there are no restaurants or coffeeshops on the way bring your own food and water.
