Discover Iceland’s famous Golden Circle while experiencing one of the country’s most unique geothermal traditions.
Begin with pickup in Reykjavik and travel to Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet. Explore the dramatic landscape and learn about Iceland’s history, geology, and Viking heritage.
Continue to Laugarvatn Fontana for a geothermal rye bread experience, one of the highlights of the tour. Watch traditional Icelandic rye bread (Hverabrauð) being dug from the hot black sands where it has been naturally baked underground using geothermal heat for around 24 hours. Taste the freshly baked bread while learning how Icelanders have used geothermal energy for generations.
Next, visit the Geysir geothermal area, home to Strokkur geyser, which erupts every few minutes and sends boiling water high into the air. Continue to Gullfoss Waterfall, one of Iceland’s most spectacular natural attractions, where powerful glacial waters plunge into a dramatic canyon.
Before returning to Reykjavik, stop at the peaceful Faxi Waterfall, a hidden gem often missed by larger tour groups. Enjoy scenic views and a quieter side of Iceland’s countryside.
Throughout the journey, discover Iceland’s unique combination of geology, geothermal energy, local traditions, and breathtaking landscapes in a small-group setting with personal attention and local insight.
