What to expect
Discover the natural beauty of Lake Myvatn and the King of Icelandic waterfalls, Dettifoss, on a guided tour from Akureyri. Visit the Myvatn Nature Baths and relax in the geothermal hot spring.
Start your tour with a stop at the beautiful waterfall Goðafoss. Admire the falls up close before driving to Lake Myvatn. Explore the lava maze at Dimmuborgir and stop for refreshments at a local restaurant.
Continue to the King of Icelandic waterfalls, Dettifoss. Marvel at the most powerful waterfall in Europe and the largest in Iceland. Take your time to take photographs and enjoy the scenery around the falls.
Not far from Dettifoss is another waterfall. Walk with your guide to view this waterfall. The scenery around these waterfalls is as you would imagine it on some other planet. In fact, Dettifoss recently played a big part in the 2012 Ridley Scott film, Prometheus.
Enjoy a final drive around the lake before returning to Akureyri.
At the arrival back to Akureyri is an option to go into the Akureyri Forest Lagoon where you can enjoy a relaxing soak in the geothermal waters.
