What to expect

Your journey starts at the Skaftafell Base Camp, where you will meet your expert guide and get ready for an unforgettable day. We provide all the professional gear you need including crampons, helmets, and ice axes, so you can walk on the ice with confidence. To ensure you have the best possible experience, we keep our groups small with a maximum of 12 guests per guide. After a 20-minute drive in our 4x4 bus from Skaftafell, we arrive at the foot of the majestic Falljökull glacier.
Once on the glacier, you will hike through a landscape of frozen ridges and deep blue crevasses. At the ice cave you’ll have time to explore the blue walls and take photos of the unique formations created by nature. Because the glacier is always changing, every cave is a "limited edition" experience that changes every year.
As we hike back across the ice, your guide will share stories about how these massive glaciers were formed and how they are changing today. You will see incredible sights like "moulins" (deep ice shafts) and jagged ridges that make you feel like you’ve stepped onto another planet. This tour is the perfect mix of easy hiking and jaw-dropping scenery, finishing back at the base camp with memories that will last a lifetime.

Terms & conditions
• Sturdy hiking boots with ankle support are mandatory for this adventure.
• Please note that ice caves are an ever-changing natural phenomenon and, therefore, unpredictable. The ice cave you will visit during the tour is selected based on conditions and safety
• The minimum age is 8 years old and minimum shoe size is 35 EU
• Please note that our specialized glacier crampons are only available for shoe sizes 35-50 EU. Those with a shoe size beyond these are unfortunately unable to participate.
• Please bring a warm and waterproof jacket and pants, hiking boots, headwear and gloves
• Hiking boot, waterproof jackets, and waterproof pants are available to rent on-site
