What to expect
Discover the neighborhoods of Athens outside the tourist center, on a relaxing guided walking tour. Visit a cream/cheese pie bakery, the local vegetable market, see how tonir oven bread is made.
Meet your guide TASSOS, at ‘’THISSIO’’ metro station.
We will take the metro heading to the cream/cheese pie bakery to watch the process of making dough and pies, where you can also buy and taste them.
Next visit to the local market, established in 1955 by Greek refuges that came from the Black Sea areas in 1922. Here you can see the stalls selling vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, seafood, and spices. Learn about the local food scene and the ingredients used in Greek cuisine. You can also try Greek coffee.
Our last visit is to a ‘’tonir’’ oven bakery. See the oven, which looks like a well, and reaches temperatures of around 300 degrees.
Finally, take a walk around the local market and learn about the customs and the pace of life of the local people.
We visit and enjoy Lunch in a local family tavern where only local people go (optional).
Take the metro heading back to ‘’THISSIO’’ station.
