Dunkeld & Birnam Tour
Located on the border of Highland and Lowland Scotland, this historic and popular area has been pivotal in Scottish history even before the founding in 843 AD of what was to become Dunkeld Cathedral, which still stands today as part church, part ruin, surrounded by beautifully designed grounds and historic trees associated with 'the planting Dukes' of Atholl, influencing the design of the town and the surrounding countryside often referred to as 'the cradle of the Scottish forest renaissance'. Just over the river in Birnam sits the mighty Birnam Oak, linked by legend to Shakespeare's play 'Macbeth'.
