What to expect
Explore the wilderness of Glen Nevis & Glenfinnan on a full-day private hiking tour with a local guide. Immerse yourself in majesty of Lochaber with a selection of the best short hikes, waterfall walks and forest trails.
The total hiking is around 5 hours / 15km / 9.3 miles.
Your guide will collect you from your accommodation in Fort William and drive you through the towering mountains of Glen Nevis past the mighty Ben Nevis.
Your first hike is to Steall Falls through Nevis Gorge. Soak up the beauty of the third highest waterfall in Scotland. [2.5 hours / 4km / 2.5 miles]
Afterwards, you'll head to Neptune’s Staircase and walk the Caledonian Canal to Corpach shipwreck & marina. [1 hour / 4km / 2.5 miles]
Your guide will then drive you out to Glenfinnan and take you to the fantastic Glenfinnan Dining Car for lunch.
After lunch, you'll walk the Glenfinnan Viaduct Trail in time to see the Jacobite steam train cross the viaduct. [30mins / 2km / 1.3 miles]
It’s a short walk back to the car to drive to Old Inverlochy Castle and possibly grab a coffee at the Highland Soap Co.
From there, you'll walk a scenic coastal section of the Great Glen Way. [30mins / 2km / 1.3 miles]
Your next stop is Glen Nevis to hike a short section of the Ben Nevis path then an idyllic river walk. [55 mins / 3.6km / 2.3 miles]
You can round off the day by visiting the famous Ben Nevis Inn before being dropped back at your accommodation.
There is a degree of flexibility in the hikes you do. Your guide will offer options on the day. Please note that the Jacobite trains doesn't always run and sometimes the steam engine is replaced by a normal train on hot days.
This tour is limited to hikes and refreshment stops. No sightseeing or attractions.
