With a passionate local guide, that worked in the oldest pastery shop in Lisbon - where the tour begins - you’ll explore the city’s most emblematic landmarks while hearing the lesser-known stories that shaped Lisbon—and still echo in daily life.
Meet in Praça da Figueira outside the historic Confeitaria Nacional. Start with Portugal’s pastry heritage, including the roots of the Pastel de Nata and classic convent sweets, then step into the dramatic turning point of the 1755 Lisbon Earthquake. Learn how the city was rebuilt and why Pombaline architecture changed downtown Lisbon forever. There will be a tasting of the famous pastel de nata and coffe.
Continue to the symbolic Church of São Domingos, then pause for a Ginjinha tasting while your guide introduces Portuguese wine culture and regional traditions. From lively Rossio Square, admire the elegant Santa Justa Lift, a landmark shaped by the spirit of the industrial revolution and learn about the story behind the construction of it.
