What to expect
Get ready for an experience of a lifetime through the heart of the Alentejo, exploring two of the region's most enchanting and authentic locations: Évora and, if selected, the historic village of Monsaraz, with a delicious Alentejo wine tasting included.
Our excursion begins with a departure from Lisbon to Evora, a town classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Accompanied by an expert guide, you will take a tour of the city's historic streets and visit:
The Bones Chapel, with its walls covered with human skulls and bones;
The grand Cathedral of Évora, with its panoramic terrace and Gothic architecture;
The impressive Roman Temple of Diana, a symbol of the Roman presence in Portugal.
You will also have free time for lunch and to explore the historic old town of Évora at your own pace, with suggestions for typical regional dishes such as black pork, migas alentejanas, or traditional queijadas.
After lunch, we will continue with the participants who select the extended option to the medieval village of Monsaraz, one of the most charming destinations in the Alentejo. Perched on a hilltop and surrounded by well-preserved walls, Monsaraz offers panoramic views of Lake Alqueva and provides a true journey back in time.
As part of the full experience, this option also includes a wine tasting of Alentejo wines at a local winery, where you can taste typical labels and learn more about the region's wine-making process.
After the visit, we will return to Lisbon with an expected arrival time of 5:00 PM, ending an unforgettable day of unique landscapes, history, and flavors of the Alentejo.
