Upon arriving at Boca da Corrida, meet your certified hiking guide and begin your hike. From this natural viewpoint, enjoy breathtaking views over Câmara de Lobos Valley, Pico do Galo, and the majestic Pico Ruivo.
The trail winds through native vegetation, passing ancient heather and laurel trees, living proof of the richness of the Laurissilva Forest, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As you ascend towards Pico Grande, the landscape opens up to ever more spectacular views — a true paradise for nature and photography lovers.
Reaching the summit brings a unique sense of achievement: you are standing in the very heart of Madeira’s mountains. From there, begin the descent towards Curral das Freiras, following old mountain paths once used by locals for generations. The trail zigzags down through dramatic slopes until the charming village appears, nestled deep within the surrounding peaks.
Once there, take time to explore Curral das Freiras, enjoy a homemade cherry liqueur or a slice of traditional chestnut cake, and simply soak in the peaceful atmosphere of this remarkable mountain refuge.
