What to expect
Join us for a Fado concert in one of Porto's oldest taverns, a small room in the historic quarter of Miragaia, away from the usual tourist crowds. Here, artists perform without microphones, just meters from the audience.
Portugal has two Fado traditions, and this is the only venue where you can hear both in one show, each performed by its own dedicated group of musicians.
The concert begins with Coimbra Fado, a tradition created over a century ago by Portuguese university students. It has its own instruments, its own repertoire, and an energy that surprises most visitors who have never heard it before.
The second part features Traditional Fado, the style that made Fado a UNESCO World Heritage in 2011. Raw, emotional, and powerful.
No two shows are the same. Pure Fado is built on improvisation. The artists don't follow a setlist. They respond to the room, the moment, and each other.
The concert takes place in the late afternoon and lasts approximately one hour. We recommend arriving 10 to 15 minutes early to settle in and take in the atmosphere of one of Porto's oldest taverns.
