What to expect
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Zagora Desert
Drive Time: ~7 hours (with stops)
Your journey begins with a scenic drive through the High Atlas Mountains. Stop to explore Ait Ben Haddou, Morocco’s most famous kasbah and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. (Shared tours: guide not included—optional group tours available for ~€2.)
Continue through the Draa Valley, dotted with palm groves, tribal villages, and ancient kasbahs, before reaching the desert. In Zagora, enjoy a sunset camel ride into the dunes and settle into your desert camp for dinner, music, and stargazing around the fire.
Day 2: Zagora – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
Drive Time: ~6.5–7 hours (with stops)
Rise early to catch sunrise over the desert before breakfast at camp. Then, journey back through the Atlas Mountains, passing through Ouarzazate. Expect to arrive in Marrakech in the evening.
Accommodation Options:
Standard Camp: Caravane du Sud Authentic Tizi Camp (or similar) – private tent, shared bathroom facilities
Luxury Camp: Caravane du Sud Luxury Camp (or similar) – private tent with ensuite bathroom and upgraded bedding
(Please note: This is still a desert environment—there may be sand, and temperatures vary greatly between seasons.)
Important Notes:
Lunches: Not included. We stop at trusted restaurants that prioritize cleanliness and food safety, though they may be priced for tourist routes. Local eateries may be cheaper, but are avoided due to cleanliness and health concerns.
Drive Time: This tour includes long drives both days. While there are scenic stops, most of the time is spent in transit. This tour is ideal for those eager to reach the desert in a short time.
WhatsApp Required: A working WhatsApp number is necessary to coordinate your pickup once in Morocco.
Bring: Comfortable clothes, sun protection, cash (Dirhams) for lunches, water (is not included) and small purchases, layers for cooler nights (especially November–March).
