What to expect
Begin with an early-morning pickup from your accommodation in Fes. Cross the Saiss Plain and drive into the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing through Ifrane—often called the “Little Switzerland of Morocco”—and the cedar forests of Azrou, home to the Barbary monkeys.
Continue to Midelt for lunch, then follow the spectacular Ziz Valley toward Erfoud and Merzouga, where the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi rise from the desert. Meet your camel caravan for a sunset trek across the dunes and enjoy tea on arrival at the camp. After dinner, relax around a campfire with traditional Berber drumming under a star-filled sky.
Wake early on Day 2 to watch sunrise over the dunes before breakfast. Return by camel or 4×4 to Merzouga village and begin your drive toward Tinghir, where you’ll walk through palm groves and visit the towering Todra Gorges—Morocco’s most impressive canyon. Continue along the “Road of a Thousand Kasbahs” to the Dades Valley for dinner and overnight in a guesthouse overlooking the gorge.
On Day 3, travel toward Marrakech via the Valley of the Roses and Ouarzazate, the “Hollywood of Africa.” Visit the UNESCO-listed Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, famous for films like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Cross the scenic Tizi n’Tichka Pass in the High Atlas, enjoying panoramic views of Berber villages before reaching Marrakech in the early evening—end of tour.
