Day 1
Marrakech - Ouarzazate - Skoura - Dades
Driving Time: 5 hours 35 minutes
Your journey begins in the vibrant city of Marrakech. As you leave the city behind, you'll cross the majestic High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka pass, offering breathtaking views at every turn. Visit the famous Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site before passing through Ouarzazate, often referred to as the "The Hollywood of Africa" Continue your journey through the Skoura Oasis, where lush palm groves contrast with the arid landscape, and admire the historic kasbahs that dot the route. As the day winds down, you'll arrive in the picturesque Dades Valley, known for its dramatic red cliffs and serene beauty, where you'll spend the night in a local guesthouse.
Day 2
Dades Valley - Todra Gorge - Merzouga
Driving Time: 4 hours 45 minutes
Wake up to the tranquility of the Dades Valley before a scenic drive through the heart of the Atlas Mountains. Your first stop is the breathtaking Todra Gorge, where towering cliffs frame a stunning canyon. Continuing your journey, you'll pass through Berber villages and witness the changing landscape as you approach the vast dunes of Merzouga. Here, you'll have the unique opportunity to ride camels into the desert, where you'll spend the night in a traditional Berber camp. Enjoy a magical evening under the starlit sky, savoring a delicious Moroccan dinner and listening to local music by the campfire.
Day 3
Merzouga - Erfoud - Midelt - Azrou - Ifrane - Fes
Driving Time: 7 hours 15 minutes
Rise early for a breathtaking desert sunrise over the dunes before departing Merzouga. Your journey will take you through the town of Erfoud, known for its fossils. Continue through the scenic Ziz Valley, where lush palm groves line the valley floor, offering a stark contrast to the surrounding arid mountains. Ascend through the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing through the cedar forests of Azrou, home to playful Barbary macaques. Stop in the charming town of Ifrane, often referred to as "Little Switzerland" for its European-style architecture.
