What to expect
Experience the true soul of Morocco on this immersive 3-day desert safari from Marrakech. This journey is designed for travelers seeking a perfect balance between dramatic landscapes, ancient history, and authentic Berber gastronomy. From the snow-capped High Atlas peaks to the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, discover why this is Morocco’s most iconic adventure.
Day 1: Marrakech – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Valley
Begin your expedition by crossing the majestic High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka pass. Wind through traditional Berber villages to reach the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou. This fortified village, a famous Hollywood film set, offers a glimpse into ancient desert life. After exploring the Kasbah, enjoy a traditional Moroccan lunch in a local restaurant. Continue through Ouarzazate, the "Gate of the Sahara," and travel along the scenic Dades Valley. End your day with a savory Berber dinner and a restful night at a charming Kasbah in Dades or Kelaat Mgouna.
Day 2: Dades – Todgha Gorges – Merzouga Sahara
Following an authentic breakfast, head to Tinghir to witness the towering limestone cliffs of the Todgha Gorges. After free time to explore the canyons and a local café lunch, arrive in Merzouga to meet your camel caravan. Experience the silence of the Sahara as you ride across the Erg Chebbi dunes during a spectacular sunset. Reach your desert camp to savor a traditional Berber feast prepared over an open fire. As night falls, enjoy live entertainment from local nomads playing traditional Tam Tam drums under a canopy of stars.
Day 3: Merzouga – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
Wake up early for an optional but breathtaking Sahara sunrise over the dunes. After a nomadic breakfast, your driver will be waiting to begin the scenic transfer back to Marrakech. Stop halfway for a fresh lunch at a local restaurant before crossing the mountains once more. You will be dropped off at your original departure point or the vibrant Djemaa El Fna around 8 PM, carrying unforgettable memories of the desert.
