What to expect
Day 1: Marrakech – Atlas Mountains – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades Valley
Begin with a morning pickup from your accommodation in Marrakech. Settle in as you begin the ascent into the High Atlas Mountains, crossing the winding Tizi n'Tichka pass at 2,260 meters. Along the way, stop to admire panoramic views of traditional Berber villages.
Arrive at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou, a striking fortified village renowned as a backdrop for Hollywood epics such as Gladiator and Game of Thrones. After exploring the Kasbah and having lunch, continue through Ouarzazate (the "Hollywood of Africa") and along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, finishing your day with a traditional dinner and overnight stay in the scenic Dades Valley.
Day 2: Dades Valley – Todra Gorges – Merzouga Desert
Following breakfast, continue to the breathtaking Todra Gorges. Here, a massive fault divides the High Atlas Mountains, creating a spectacular 300-meter-deep canyon. Enjoy free time to walk alongside the river and marvel at the towering rock walls.
In the afternoon, the landscape begins to shift as you approach the legendary Erg Chebbi dunes in Merzouga. Trade your vehicle for a camel and trek deep into the Sahara just in time to watch the sun sink behind the dunes. Arrive at your traditional Berber desert camp, where you will be treated to a hearty Moroccan dinner, live drumming around the campfire, and an unforgettable night sleeping beneath a canopy of stars.
Day 3: Merzouga – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
Wake up early to witness a serene and magical Sahara sunrise over the sand dunes. After a camp breakfast, ride your camel back to the edge of the desert to meet your driver. The return journey to Marrakech takes you through the sweeping landscapes of the Draa Valley, passing volcanic rocks, acacia trees, and palm groves. Cross the Atlas Mountains once more, arriving back at your hotel or Riad in Marrakech in the early evening.
