Selangor Coastal Village Lifestyle Exploration with Palm Wine
This experiential tour to a multicultural coastal village in Selangor will kick off with pick-up from any hotel located in Kuala Lumpur. The drive will includes cruising past palm tree plantations; home to 35% of palm oil production globally. We will first arrive at a Malay township with a photo opportunity at the local mosque.
Next, a pit stop at the local town will be made where tourists explore the small town lifestyle in Malaysia. Here, a tram will be taken to the heavily fortified Melawati fort built in defence of the Dutch.
At Bukit Melawati, you may visit the Kuala Selangor Historic Musuem and the Altinburg lighthouse. The fort is now home to Silvery Langur, a primate species that are keen on human interaction and the common macaques. If luck permits, you may even get a glimpse of Silvery Langur’s golden babies.
Next, we will head off to the local coconut plantation where you can indulge in local Indian delicacies with an opportunity to quench your thirst with palm wine. Locally known as toddy or “coconut champagne”, you will be shown how the wine is cultivated. Our next stop will be at a local Hindu temple, with a photo opportunity to capture the small-town religious lifestyle and intricate structures of the temple.
Our tour will then continue by cruising past a local fisherman's village stood erect on waterbodies. You may witness their unique lifestyle. The next stop will be Redang Beach, home to a popular Chinese temple that is open for visitation. You will find a Wishing Tree wherein you may tie notes and snap photos. You could also stroll by the beach and enjoy the company of local dogs that are also keen for human interaction snacking on ice-creams and coconut water from local vendors.
Next, we will drive through a fishing town before heading to the Paddy Gallery (museum). We will wrap up the tour with a scenic drive through the paddy field where you can snap some beautiful golden hour photos.
We will continue the tour by boat along the Selangor River to see three different types of eagle nest in the trees (white-bellied sea eagles, brahminy kites, and crested serpent eagles). Discover these majestic creatures as your guide summons wild birds of prey with raw meat.
Enjoy your dinner in the riverside restaurant, before proceeding to watch Fireflies. Get board in sampan a traditional, non-motorized wooden boat and cruise along the great bends and curves of Selangor River to witness up-close the fireflies’ mesmerizing displays.
Travelling on a sampan enables you to get closer to the action and at the same time, helps reduce air, water and noise pollution, all of which may adversely affect the insects’ natural habitat.
